R. S. Breed writes literary science fiction about the space between what the universe is doing and what the people inside it can understand about it.
He came to it the long way round. He has been a police officer. He has run his own franchised retail businesses and worked inside large corporations long enough to learn exactly how bureaucracy moves, and why. For years he kept high-end infrastructure running, the kind of systems nobody notices until they fail, and he has worked across more industries and disciplines than fit comfortably on one CV.
All of it ends up on the page. The Fracture Cosmology is one connected universe spanning eight centuries, where institutions behave like institutions, technology is furniture until it breaks, and ordinary people make decisions with incomplete information and then live with them. Every series stands on its own; the connections reward readers who find them.
Writing is the thread that ran through every one of those careers. For a long time the manuscripts lived on old laptops and thumb drives. Now they are out in the world: 44 novels, and counting.
He also founded Bervet, a free home where independent authors list their own books and readers can try the first chapter before they buy, because he remembers what it was like to send work out and hear nothing back.
